New Zealand vs Japan in Bochum

First Half

Strong first half for the Japanese.  Aya Miyama  did a great job of giving them lots of chances along the left flank especially.  The first goal was a classic Japanese play with a nice chip over the dense to a waiting a forward who gets a breakaway and chips the ball over the goalie standing in no man lands.

New Zealand equalized six minutes later with a perfect header by 5’9 Amber Hearn.  Though the Japanese would have a hard time guarding that kind of height she was actually wide open.  A major mistake.  This is just New Zealand’s second goal in the WWC.

Going into halftime the score remained 1 to 1, but no doubt New Zealand needed to discuss how to get more possession.  The Japanese tired out their defense and got  all kinds of chances.
