The win against Switzerland (9/16/2010) was ultimately easy for the Three Lionesses, even though they played the second-half with 10 players when goalkeeper Rachel Brown was surprisingly sent off with a red card just before half-time for supposedly pulling Ramona Bachman’s hair and forcing her to the ground. England played strong defense, replaced Eniola with a back-up goalie, and easily guaranteed themselves a place in Germany next autumn.

The scoring was as follows:
Switzerland – Ramona Bachmann (41′) Slina Zumbuhl (65′)
England – Kelly Smith (32′) Eniola Aluko (34′) Fara Williams (50′) (pen)
Note: Kelly Smith became the top goalscorer in the history of the England women’s side with 41 senior goals.
